Seeing how the more you play, the more points you earn and higher the rank goes is the current situation right now. I was thinking if its possible to make the points work in following way.
Bare with the players name 
Apple - 50,000 points (Rank 1)
Intel - 48,000 points (Rank 2)
Dell - 20,000 points (Rank 11)
Omnomnom - 1001 points ( Last rank available)
Current situation:
Now Apple may have really good skills to earn the first place or maybe not, but I am not judging any players.
But Intel has a much better Kill/Death Ratio compared to top 3 players. Just because Apple plays on that specific server more makes his points pool much bigger.
Suggestion:
When Omnomnom kills Dell , he gets...lets say 3 points. When same player kills Apple, he gets 10 points !
Similarly when Dell kills Apple, he gets 5 points compared to only 1 point when he kills Omnomnom
